About Mark J Montgomery
Mark Montgomery is a fine artist focused on creating abstract collage works using vintage printed paper mounted on wood panel. Deeply influenced by Abstract artists of the early to mid 20th Century, Mark finds beauty and inspiration in richly printed ephemera, transforming it into colorful compositions. The process starts with original vintage paper ephemera ( circa 1910s–1940s) placed on a board until a visual story appears. Pieces are cut and adhered and mixed with other vintage material until a rhythm and composition emerges.
Mark’s work has been published in Plastikomb magazine (https://www.plastikcombmag.com; USA/Germany) as well as online magazine Contemporary Collage (https://www.contemporarycollagemagazine.com/; UK). When not creating fine art, Mark serves as Creative Director at IEEE Spectrum (spectrum.ieee.org), a science and technology magazine based in New York City.
